As a 24-year-old Miss USA and Miss America contestant, Allyn made headlines across the globe with her controversial decision to become a “previvor” by choosing to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy. As a result of her advocacy efforts, she was awarded the 21st Annual Congress on Women’s Health’s “Women’s Health Advocacy Award” and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 Breast Cancer Summit for her continued dedication to educating women in breast cancer prevention. 

Allyn is the first woman with a mastectomy to be featured by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and was the creator of the social media movement #SelfExamGram, encouraging women to perform monthly self breast exams.

Allyn continues to work as an advocate and contributor on several national media outlets sharing a message of hope and the importance of putting life before vanity.

She has presented keynote addresses at numerous professional conferences, corporate and government meetings, congressional panels, healthcare summits and charitable events.

Notably, she was chosen to give a TEDx Talk at Chapman University on the “Power of Redefining Breasts.” She was also selected as a keynote speaker at both the University of Maryland “Terps Under 30,” as well as the annual LIPSG Breast Cancer Summit.
